Anti-Mullerian Hormone Test for Female Reproductive Organs
Various studies have proved that anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) is an accurate marker of ovarian reserve. This marker has been well applied in the medical field of reproductive endocrinology, especially in test-tube baby program (in vitro fertilization [IVF]). In the field of IVF, AMH is used to estimate the ovarian response and the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). AMH application in the field of IVF has been able to suppress the occurrence of OHSS and improve the success rate of IVF. In the field of non-IVF, AMH is applied to assess the severity of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), determine whether or not laparoscopic ovarian diathermy (LOD) is needed, and as an evaluation of PCOS patient' s response to metformin and others. In addition to the case of PCOS, AMH is also used to estimate the age of menopause, evaluate gonadal toxicity in chemotherapy and radiotherapy patients, as well as assess the efficacy of post-surgical therapy in the case of granulose cell tumors (GCT).
