In addition to the treatment by qualified doctors and therapists, as a patient you can also do several things to alleviate or prevent the symptoms of vertigo. Do the following steps to alleviate your vertigo:

  1. Avoid sudden movements to prevent dizziness and falling.
  2. Quickly sit down when the vertigo attacks.
  3. Use several pillows to make your head position higher when you sleep.
  4. Move your head slowly.
  5. Avoid sudden looking up movement, squatting, or bending.
  6. Recognize the vertigo triggering factors and do Epley maneuver, namely a technique of canalith repositioning or position setting of the semicircular canal in the ear. This maneuver includes four different head movements and the recommended time to hold each head position is 30 seconds. The Epley maneuver triggers the vertigo and enables the body reposition itself to a safe position. The brain will get used to it and possibly reduce the occurrence frequency of the vertigo.

For those with Meniere' s disease (the inner ear disorder), limit the salt consumption in your daily diet.
