Health, the Most Precious Treasure

02 November 2016

Feeling healthy and just fine, feeling still young, no time for check-up, high expense, and being afraid of revealing the residing diseases are the common reasons for delaying medical check-up. Meanwhile, no symptom of illness doesn't always mean that you are healthy. Commonly, we consider ourselves ill based on the complaints of our illness, while medically, the state of being ill is based on whether a disease is present or not. If we do not feel the pain, there are two possibilities, that there is actually no disease or medically there is a disease but the symptoms have not appeared. Amidst that condition, the awareness and the active participation in the preventive strategy are crucial.

Some particular diseases in need of early detection by medical check-up are "lifestyle disease" (diseases arising from unhealthy lifestyles, e.g. diabetes, blood lipid disorder and hypertension), vital organ disorders or diseases, e.g. liver disease, kidney disease and some others. Potentially harmful diseases such as cardiovascular diseases (the heart and blood vessels disease), and certain types of cancer need to be detected through medical check-up, even though it may not be directly detectable. Eventually, medical check-up becomes the first step toward a definitive diagnosis of the suspected disease, there being of course the need of further examination to ensure the diagnosis.

While it is true that medical check-up is more popular among adults and elderly, younger people tend to have a habit of seeing a doctor only when their condition demands it or symptoms of disease occur. Medical check-up is in fact equally important in every stage of age as every person's basic need to maintain their health.

The type of physical examination conducted for medical check-up in each stage of age, from infants, toddlers, adolescents, adults, to elderly, certainly varies since each group has different risks of diseases.

As the largest and the most complete clinical laboratory in Indonesia, Prodia Clinical Laboratory provides different medical check-up panels for all groups of age.

To commemorate the National Health Day, Prodia offers a 20% discount for any check-up panel, available on 1 - 3 November 2016. The discount applies one time only for all types of test conducted solely by Prodia Clinical Laboratory, except at Prodia clinic at Bunda Hospital Jakarta. Now, what are you waiting for?
