Prodia Owns Triple Quad Mass Spectrometry (MS) to Detect Infertility and Sex Ambiguity

Prodia invest to purchase Triple Quad MS, one of the Next Generation medical technology from USA

JAKARTA, December 27, 2017 - PT Prodia Widyahusada Tbk (Stock Code: PRDA) completes Next Generation medical technology through the purchase of LCMS-MS or Triple Quad MS from Waters Corporation, Massachusetts, USA. It serves to conduct steroid hormone screening panel that can detect infertility, sex ambiguity in infants, hormonal disorders, and others. It is the highest type of LCMS-MS that exist today. The unboxing of Triple Quad MS was attended by President Director of Prodia Dewi Muliaty and Director of PT Kromtekindo Utama, a distributor of Waters Corporation equipment in Indonesia, Wayan Rediatning at Prodia Tower.

This Triple Quad MS can be used in a comprehensive steroid hormone screening panel that can describe the overall metabolic condition to provide better diagnosis and therapy for patients. Triple Quad MS can measure the target of a large number of test samples in one time analysis (multiplex testing). Currently, Prodia is the only clinical laboratory in Indonesia that has Triple Quad MS.

In Indonesia, cases of infertility is quite high. It is estimated that around 11% of the 150 million couples are infertile and it is estimated that the average infertility case will increase by around 5-10% annually. On the other hand, there is one possibility of sex ambiguity case in infants of about 10 thousand to 20 thousand births. With this Triple Quad MS tool, people can do early screening related to their body condition to determine the possibility or risk of fertility problems or sex ambiguity cases in infants.

Research Laboratory Head of Prodia Miswar Fattah added that Triple Quad MS is the second LCMS-MS type that owned by Prodia. "One of its strength is its high sensitivity and specificity. In addition, Triple Quad MS can be used for tests of amino acids, organic acids, vitamins, and dose of drugs in blood. In the future, Prodia will develop a LCMS-MS-based metabolomic test, which can detect hundreds of metabolites that make it easier to identify patients with congenital disorders of metabolism and other metabolic disorders such as diabetes," Miswar added.

In early November 2017, Prodia launched ProSafe, a prime diagnostic tests to predict the risk of having a baby with down syndrome. ProSafe is conducted using the most advanced and the newest technology Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) from Illumina, San Diego, USA. Previously, Prodia also had launched other tests named Warfarin Indivtest to determine dose of warfarin. Warfarin is known as the type of anticoagulant that functions to prevent blood clots. In addition, Prodia also provides Telomere Analysis to support information on someone' s biological aging marker.
